The 10x Leap in Every Dimension

Five G delivers roughly a tenfold improvement across every major performance dimension compared to LTE. Peak throughput jumps from 1 Gbps with LTE-Advanced to 20 Gbps downlink with 5G NR, driven by wider channel bandwidths up to 400 MHz and massive MIMO antenna arrays. User-plane latency drops from around 10 milliseconds in LTE to below 1 millisecond in URLLC configurations, enabled by shorter slot durations and mini-slot scheduling. Device density scales from approximately 100,000 devices per square kilometer in LTE to one million in 5G mMTC, supporting the explosive growth of IoT sensors and smart-city infrastructure.
